These are the beautiful students of the Shree Bhumi Basic School in Lukum, Nepal. When I first arrived with my team I couldn’t believe the joy in their faces as they welcomed us into their school. Each child was unique in their own way and touched my heart.
When I arrived and saw the students standing in 28 degree Fahrenheit weather barefooted or wearing only shower shoes, it broke my heart. I began to weep and could not get it together for quite some time. My team asked me if I was OK and I responded that here I was with Timberland boots and a Columbia down jacket and they didn’t even have proper shoes to wear or shoes at all. When I would return to Kathmandu I swore that Sweeping Change would purchase shoes for the 13 children without them.
